What is your opinion on gun-control?

I need not have to say it, but I will anyway... I beleive we have our rights to protect ourselves. Cops are suppose to be for cleaning up the after the protection... Someone breaks into your house and threatens to kill your kids, what are you suppose to do? Call the cops and wait 10 minutes for them to get there? By that time they could kill your kids and your wife and yourself as well! To those who say murders happen because we have guns (including Rosy O'Donnell)... 1: Look at Mexico... murders still happen, even though the civilians are not allowed to have weapons... 2: Saying a gun causes a murder is like saying the spoon caused Rosy O'Donnell to be fat. It's not the spoon's fault! It's the person's fault! Same goes with guns... What we need in this country is more morals... not more laws. We have enough laws that everyone hates and breaks.

I'm against gun control, if we outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns...

As a gun enthusiast, I have to say I'm for a very specific form of gun control. If it were up to me, to possess a firearm you would have to pass a psychological exam and a detailed background check, on your dime, and undergo the process with every firearm you purchase. Every firearm and barrel made would be fired through and the rifling pattern would be logged, every firearm would have to be federally registered and it would be illegal to buy firearms from an unregistered dealer. Hollowpoint ammunition would be taxed at 300% of sales cost, soft lead ball ammunition would be illegal, and every ammunition purchase would have to be accompanied by your firearm license. A code would be added to your license in the ATF database showing what type of ammunition you bought and from where. Violating any of these rules would result in 15 years in a federal prison.
I'm far from encouraging the government to start stealing guns from crying grandmas, but I don't think something as lethal as a firearm should be so loosely controlled.

I'm against gun control. I also want to point out that I think this is the first time in the recent history of this site that we've all agreed on something.

How diplomatic of you, Jango. Have any of you guys seen UHF? Remember the guy who owns the gun store or something and Weird Al has him on his show? "Guns don't kill people. I do."

Seriously though, and I mean this in all honesty, taking away guns is declaring war on the South and most of the West of the US. Prime conditions for another Civil War. Myself, I'm contemplated barricading myself in my house and holding my 22 close.
