"I've always trusted the council without question, but this time I don't know what they're thinking." Chelsi couldn't seem to stop pacing, unconscious to the little path she was wearing in the grass near the shimmer-flower bushes. Calon stood nearby, listening to his old apprentice. She was down right agitated, and he hadn't seen her like that in a long time. "Does it bother you so much that the council pointed out your flaws?" Chelsi ceased her pacing for a second and frowned. "No. It's the manner in wich they did it. It's almost like they were trying to trick me into taking an apprentice. I do like to take my missions alone, but sense when as that a fault?" the pacing resumed. "It's no fault in itself..." "And you know I do fine with a companion, it's only that..." she sighed, "To be honest Calon, other Jedi just don't do things right. You and I understood each other, that's why I was able to work with you so well." Calon gave her a patient smile. "I suspect that's because I was your master. But Chelsi, did I teach you nothing? We have to lay aside our own preferences and conveniences for the sake of what is best for the galaxy as a whole. You have a vast amount of knowledge to share if you were to take a padawan, but your strong-headedness keeps you from doing so. If you took a padawan you could learn to work beside him, you could teach him." Chelsi had finally stopped her pacing and now faced Calon. "Not the one the council has suggested for me. He has to be at least twenty. What can I teach someone so old? He was probably abandoned by his master because he was too foolish to take correction. Why would they pair him with me? There are many better Jedi for the job." "Not often I hear that from your lips." Calon's smile was half teasing, half reproachful; he loved Chelsi like a duaghter, but it was high time she got over herself and grew up. "Who would you suggest?" Chelsi thought. "The council recently accepted Reiss back. From what I hear she and this Bainth kid have a lot in common, they've both experienced the dark side and been redeemed, they both strayed and have now returned. Perhaps it was the fate of the force they arrived back here near the same time. They might be exactly what each other need." "Or exactly what each other don't need. The council's not about to join a the former Commander Reiss with a former sith. They're too wary of both to pair them up." Chelsi couldn't argue with him, she saw the council's reasoning in that. Still. She sighed and met his gaze with an open expression. "Do you truly think this is the right thing for me, Calon?" "I'm not your master anymore, Chelsi, it's a decision you have to make on your own." "As if you haven't already made opinion clear." She saw Calon's smile and returned it. She heaved a bigger sigh this time and nodded. "Very well. I will train Bainth." (proceed to council room)
