An aged Jedi wandered out of the forest into a wide open pastureland, the meadow sloped upward and at the top of a hill was a small village. Master Sam'twy paused to study the village and listened carefully for the force melody which had brought her into the meadow from the woods, it was hard to say now which direction she was to go because the feeling was all around her, but she reasoned with herself that the force must be guiding her to someone and the ideal place to find folks would be in a village, so she walked up the hill and into the small town on the hill. There was a narrow road which wound through the village and stretched towards Theed which was visible in the distance, the homes were mostly cottages of stone that couldn't of been built more than five years ago, but there were at least two that had been standing for many decades, their stones radiated the joys and sorrows that their inner walls had known over the many years of housing generation after generation of a families. She perambulated through the village until she came to the ruins of a once beautiful cottege, here she stopped. There was a stone chimny stack which had likely once found much use and been the assistant of a fireplace that had once warmed the tenants of this ghost house. The chimny stack, as well as whatever else had been left standing, was stained black, apparently there had been a fire, but there were no ashes and most of the ground where the house had once stood was covered with weeds so the fire had happened years ago. The Jedi reached her hand out and placed it on a still standing wall of stones for support then slowly sat upon it. "Now," she said with a burderned grunt (her body wasn't as young as it used t be), "tell me your story."

She reached a mental hand out and touched the force, but she recoiled as one would recoil her hand from a deadly snake. This was a dark place. Her eyes opened and the story manifsted itself in her mind. A Jedi had once lived here with his -or her?- family, this house had seen the warmth of romance, the anger of conflict, the strength of family love and...the raw pain of unripe loss. Soral closed her eyes and a tear escaped, trickled down her cheek and soaked into the soft collar of her tunic. It might seem weak of a Jedi to cry, but Jedi are beings of emotion just like everyone else in the galaxy, and she wasn't afraid to show the emotions when they were not contrary to her Jedi convictions- feeling for others was no harm unless you allowed it to control you, rather than maintained an inner calm knowing that you weren't giving into emotions to powerful to be tamed. "Excuse me, ma'am, are you lost?" Soral lifted her eyes to the nerf herder who stood in what was once a doorway to the home, she shook her head, "No, thank-you, I would just like to rest for a while." The man nodded, then hesitated, "Did you know the family who lived here?" "No. But I know their pain." "Ephratah was bruned to the ground by the Sith five years ago, most of the homes have been replaced, but this one hasn't been touched, supposedly the land belongs to the only member of the family who survived the attack." "Do you know the name?" "Onlae." The nerfherder nodded toward a place in the distant valley where something like stones stood upright on the grassy meadow floor, "at least, that's the name on those markers. If you're truly interested in the history, you might try inquiring at one of the older homes, I moved here after the village was rebuilt, so I don't know much." Soral stood, "Thank-you, you've been most helpful, young man." The man tipped his hat and nodded then left Soral alone with the new puzzle pieces he had given her.

She made her way across the valley toward the small plot, but something stopped her before she reached her destination. ::Jedi and Sith once faught here:: She bent down and brushed the blades of grass with her hand, the force tingled through them and soaked into the Jedi Master's hand like dew, the story they told was one of victory and breavery,- the Jedi had defeated the sith. ::Where are you, mystery Jedi?:: She rose and continued on to the fenced in grave plot, she opened the humble gate and carefully walked in. There were four markers, the first bore the name Lorna Onlae, Soral read the birthdate and the deathdate and learned that this girl had been taken at age eight, she moved to the next one "Trent Onlae" this young man's life, also, had been cut short, he had died in his twenties. The next marker read "Sonel Onlae / Beloved Father and Hero" The last was a monument which bore the names of other family members who had, apparently, vanished in the fire. Soral sighed softly and rose, her legs were beginning to cramp up. She looked down at the marker with the name Sonel Onlae. For some reason the name Onlae seemed vaguely familiar to her. And now Soral noticed something she had not before- dead flowers that had been placed in front of the marker no longer than a year ago. She felt her heart swell for the lonely soul who had placed them, anyone who loved all of these beloved family membes suffered a great loss indeed when there were taken.

Feeling that there was nothing more she could discover here, Soral left the little grave plot, closing the gate carefully, making sure that it's latch clicked properly into place.

Soral reached the street again and contemplated what to do next, she decided to see if anyone was home at one of the older houses. She mounted the porch steps then rang the door signal, she sensed movement inside and waited a full minute until a hunched over little old woman came to the door. What can I do for you, young lady? Something must be wrong with her eye sight. Goodness, I hope I don't look that old. "I have questions about the Onlae family, did you know them?" "You have questions about the only family left in the kingdom?" "No. I want to know about the Onlae family who used to live here in Ephratah." "Oooh. I haven't seen my Aunt Aveta in twenty years." Soral laughed inwardly I'd like to see Crie put up with this lady. Golly, she actually makes me feel young. Soral rose her voice, "Do you know anything about the Onlae family?" "The Onlae family! Oh, oh, I'm sorry you have to speak up, these ears aint as sharp as they used to be! *Laughs* Now, what was it you asked? Soral smiled politely, "Perhaps it would be best if I inquire elsewhere. Thank-you for your time." She walked away.

With pity in her heart for that poor old woman, Soral walked down the street until she came to another old house. She knocked on the door and waited. She wasn’t going to give up, not as long as she felt the force urging her to persist. After a moment of waiting the door was answered by a middle-aged woman wearing an apron over her humble Naboo maiden style dress. “Hello, I’m Soral Sam’twy. I’m wondering if you can tell me anything about the Onlae family.” ”Why don’t you come in, ma’am.” Soral entered the home. The woman offered her some tea and the two sat down at the table. ”I was a friend of Mrs. Onlae’s….until the fire. My husband and I were off planet during the invasion, when we returned most of the village was in ruins. I don’t know why the sith spared our home, perhaps they over looked it.” “I know the feeling of losing a good friend. I’m sorry.” … “A nerf herder told me that the land now belongs to the last surviving member of the Onlae family, do you know who that is or where I can find them? ”That would be their oldest daughter, Soleia. I don’t know where she is now…she and I didn’t know each other well as she spent most of her time on Coruscant. After losing her family she married a young man who was also from Naboo…I can’t remember the name. Anyway, she always seemed distant, deep in thought, understandable after losing her twin sister at age eight.” Soleia Onlae, I have heard that name before. “She’s not a Jedi any longer, is she?” ”So the rumor says, but I couldn’t say for sure, I haven’t spoken with her since her father’s funeral, but she’ll come by every year or so and visit her family’s gravesite.” ”Thank-you, you have told me what I need to know.” ”I’m sorry I couldn’t be more informative.” ”That’s alright. And…I think I know someone who might know more about this. Thank-you again for your time and information.” Soral left the house and returned to the Jedi Compounds where she hoped to learn more about the mysterious Soleia Onlae.

The Connie lands in an open field, bypassing orbital security. The carcass floats wearily in space, jettisoned. Ragath leaves out of the back hatch with a small lawn chair and, in the pleasant Naboo afternoon, starts to take a nap. His breath leaves in hisses and snores.
