*Smiles shyly.* "Ok."*The crowd cheers**Starts playing his guitar as intro. The band had practiced a few of his songs to put on their next recording, so they knew it. He speaks during the intro...* "This is a song about a longing for lost innocence."
*Sings*
Do you remember days not so very long ago When the world was run by people twice your size? And the days were full of laughter And the nights were full of stars And when you grew tired you could close your eyes Yes the stars were there for wishing And the wind was there for kites And the morning sun was there for rise and shine And even if the sniffles kept you Home from school in bed You couldn't hardly stay there after nine
(Colleen and Sky) Chorus: And I wonder if the smell of morning's faded What happened to the robin's song That sparkled in the sky? Where's all the water gone That tumbled down a stream? Will I ever catch another butterfly?
(Sky only) Do you remember campouts right in your own backyard? Wondering how airplanes could fly And the hours spent just playin' With a funny rock you found With crystal specks as blue as all the sky
(Colleen and Sky) And I wonder if the smell of morning's faded What happened to the robin's song That sparkled in the sky? Where's all the water gone That tumbled down a stream? Will I ever catch another butterfly? Will I ever catch another butterfly? Will I ever catch another butterfly?
"Beautiful!" *Colleen applauds with the audience*

Heather heard every word of the song and tried hard to keep back tears, but it was all in vain. Slowly tears gathered in her eyes then spilled over, the very feelings and thoughts he was singing about she knew all to well. Painful memories threatened to surface but she refused to let them. Towards the end of the song she struggled to bring her feelings back under control and after he had sung the last note she mannaged to smile up at him. Glancing down at a flower she held in her hand her smile grew and she tossed it up on stage so that it landed at his feet.

*A stray tear fell down Sky's face as he sang the song. When it was over and Colleen had said 'beautiful', he looked at her and spoke softly.* "Thank you."
*Then looked out at the audience, smiling rather shakily.* "Thanks, you're too kind."
*Looks at Heather just as she tosses the flower at his feet. He swallows as he leans over and picks it up. Sniffs it as he straightens, looks at her again and winks as he puts the flower in his jacket lapel.* "Thank you.""That song will be on our next recording, as well as a couple of his other songs." *Colleen smiles proudly at him. He'd come a long way from the street thug she took under her wing almost a decade ago.* "Why don't you sing one more, then we'll pause for intermission?" ::I'm sure he'll want to talk to his lady friend.:: *The audience applauds at the prospect of hearing another song from Skyler.**Self-consciously, he gives a soft laugh, but starts the intro to another song*
"This is for those who lost loved ones during the Droid wars."
*sings*
It's walking to the battleground that always makes me cry I've met so few folks in my time who weren't afraid to die But dawn bleeds with the people here and morning skies are red As young girls load up bicycles with flowers for the dead An aging woman picks along the craters and the rubble A piece of cloth, a bit of shoe, a whole lifetime of trouble A sobbing chant comes from her throat and splits the morning air The single son she had last night is buried under her
They say that the war is done Where are you now, my son?
An old man with unsteady gait and beard of ancient white Bent to the ground with arms outstretched faltering in his plight I took his hand to steady him, he stood and did not turn But smiled and wept and bowed and mumbled softly, "Danke shoen"
Now that the war's being won Where are you now, my son?
The siren gives a running break to those who live in town Take the children and the blankets to the concrete underground Sometimes we'd sing and joke and paint bright pictures on the wall And wonder if we would die well and if we'd loved at all The helmetless defiant ones sit on the curb and stare At tracers flashing through the sky and planes bursting in air But way out in the villages no warning comes before a blast That means a sleeping child will never make it to the door
The days of our youth were fun Where are you now, my son?
From the distant cabins in the sky where no man hears the sound Of death on earth from his own bombs, six pilots were shot down Next day six hulking bandaged men were dazzled by a room Of newsmen. Keep the faith, let's hope this war ends soon
Yours was the righteous gun Where are you now, my son?
So back into the shelter where two lovely women rose And with a brilliance and a fierceness and a gentleness which froze The rest of us to silence as their voices soared with joy Outshining every bolt that fell that night upon the ground.
With bravery we have sun But where are you now, my son?
Oh people of the shelters what a gift you've given me To smile at me and quietly let me share your agony And I can only bow in utter humbleness and ask Forgiveness and forgiveness for the things we've brought to pass
I've heard that the war is done Then where are you now, my son?

Although the song made Heather feel kinda sad she didn't cry this time, she was too busy staring at Skyler and listening to his voice to cry. Before the song was even completely over the crowd was cheering, she joined them, raising to her feet.

*Smiles out at the audience.* "Thank you!"*Colleen is struck at the irony of the seemingly happy-go-lucky Skyler writing such heart-wrenching songs. She smiles brightly at him while applauding. Addressing the audience, she asks:* "So, are you ready for intermission, or do you want another Skyler original?" *A chant starts from one part of the audience, and is soon taken up by those around until the ampitheater is one big roar.* "Skyler! Skyler!"*Colleen laughs fondly at Skyler's expression, for upon his face is a look of stunned disbelief.* "Come on, Sky, just one more." *With a mischevious grin, he glances over at Colleen as he exchanges his guitar for a banjo.* "This song was inspired by Colleen's many stories of her large family and their farm on Corellia.""Oh, no!" *Colleen throws her head back and laughs.* "Oh, yeah!" *Grins wide as he starts the intro to a fast-paced, light-hearted tune.*
*Sings*
When I was a little bitty boy just up off a floor We used to go down to Grandma's house ev'ry month end or so, We'd have chicken pie and country ham 'n' home made butter on the bread But the best darn thing about Grandma's house was her great big feather bed
It was nine feet high and six feet wide soft as a downy chick It was made from the feathers of forty 'leven geese took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick It'd hold eight kids 'n' four hound dogs and a piggy we stole frome the shed We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun on Grandma's feather bed
After supper we'd sit around the fire the old folks'd spit and chew Pa would talk about the farm and the war and Granny'd sing a ballad or two I'd sit and listen and watch the fire till the cobwebs filled my head Next thing I'd know I'd wake up in the mornin' in the middle of the old feather bed
Well I love my Ma, I love my Pa I love Granny and Grandpa too I been fishin' with my uncle I rassled with my cousin I even kissed Aunt Lou eww! But if I ever had to make a choice I guess it oughta be said That I'd trade 'em all plus the gal down the road for Grandma's feather bed I'd trade 'em all plus the gal down the road...
*Looks at Heather and speaks with a mischevious glint in his eye* "Well, maybe not the gal down the road!"
*Colleen laughs*

Heather stayed on her feet as many around her did as well, clapping her hands and tapping her toes in time to the song. She blushed when Skyler looked at her with the mischevious glint in his eyes but had to laugh at him too. The noise level at the end of the song went up, clapping and cheering coming from every corner of the amphitheater.

*Colleen laughs so hard she has tears in her eyes. Once the crowd settles down a bit, she asks, still laughing:* "I don't sound like that when I talk about my family... do I?"
*Sky laughs.* "Not exactly, I just added the twang."
"Oh! You scoundrel!" *More laughter, then turns back to the audience* "OK, on that note, we go to intermission. See you in 15."
*Waves and goes offstage, Sky and the rest of the band following.*
*Waves to Heather with a smile right before going backstage.*

Heather waved back and headed towards the backstage area, showing her pass so that they would let her through. She smiled brightly when she saw Skyler "Hey"

*Laughs with Colleen and the rest of the band as they come backstage. There's a lot of bantering and teasing. When he sees Heather, his eyes brighten even more.*
"Heather!" *Rushes over, and in his excitement forgets that he only just met her, and about her shyness about being touched. He gives her a big hug.* "Thanks for coming!"
*Colleen watches with a smile on her face.*
*Leith had been brooding backstage because of the easy onstage rapor Skyler shared with Colleen, but when he saw the enthusiasm with which Skyler greeted Heather, he rose his eyebrow.* ::Interesting.:: *Smiles slightly to himself.*
*Alexis watches everything quietly. Especially Skyler. Ever since she met him a few weeks ago, there was something about him that seemed familiar, but she couldn't quite place what it was.*

She blushed and returned the hug breifly before pulling away "I love the songs" she tried to excuse herself a little, feeling shy. She glanced at Colleen with a smile "Hello"

*He remembers just as Heather pulls away about her shyness. He swallows and whispers into her ear.* "I'm sorry about that, I was just really happy to see you. I want you to meet someone."
*Takes her left hand and leads her to Colleen.* "Colleen, this is Heather. Heather, Colleen."
*Somehow stands taller than his already impressive height as he holds Heather's hand.*"Hi Heather, it's nice to meet you." *Colleen smiles genuinely.* *Thinks Skyler's not half bad when he isn't hitting on Colleen.*

Heather was nervous but smiled at Colleen "Pleased to meet you, I'm a fan of your music" she laughed a little. She glanced at the others and her eyes stopped on Alexis, she somehow senced that the girl was troubled. Finally she turned her attention back to Skyler

"Thank you." *Watched how Heather and Skyler seemed to have a natural connection to each other. Not yet a bond, but, the potential was definitely there.* ::Don't let this one go, Sky.::
*Alexis frowns slightly when Heather looks at her. For some reason, she made her uncomfortable. She went over to the water cooler and got a cup to drink.*
*Skyler introduces Heather to everyone else.*
"You know," *Leith says when Sky introduces her to him.* "You could stay backstage for the rest of the concert and watch from the wings if you wish since you have that backstage pass."

"That'd be great!" *Cannot stop smiling.*
"So, just how did the two of you meet?" *Colleen wonders.*
